History Hunt entries available

The public is invited to take part in the first-ever History Hunt to benefit the Merrill Historical Society. The History Hunt is taking place Saturday, April 25 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., with check-in time between 9 and 11 a.m.
The History Hunt is a cross between a scavenger hunt and a trivia contest with some puzzle solving skills thrown in. Teams of two or more work to answer questions that lead to a perfectly solved puzzle. Map-reading ability will also come in handy as you travel about 50 miles in and around Merrill, learning bits of historical trivia while you search for the answers that will let you earn puzzle pieces.
The History Hunt is designed to be fun for all ages and ability levels. You can choose your speed, whether that’s a mad dash or a more leisurely pace, enjoying the hunt at a slower speed.
To participate, you need a team. Maximum team size is the number who can legally fit into your team vehicle. We ask that each team consist of at least two members; no lone-wolf, one-man teams.
Prizes, donated by area businesses, will be awarded for Best Team Name, Best Team Costume, and Best Team Vehicle. Also, every team who successfully completes their puzzle is eligible for many other prizes as well as the Grand Prize which will be given through drawings held at the After Party.
Early Bird Registration is $10 for each individual by April 3. After April 3 the standard registration fee of $15 is in effect. Your registration fee includes history hunt entry, drink and food specials at the after party, and one navigation packet for each team.
Register in person at the Merrill Historical Society Office, 100 E. Third St. in Merrill, or by mail using the form found in the History Hunt Registration Brochure. Brochures are available at many local businesses including the Mustard Seed and First Street Coffee Station as well as the Merrill Area Chamber of Commerce. You can also download a registration form at www.merrillhistory.org.
