Alice F. Tewes, age 68, of Merrill, died Saturday, April 19, 2014, at Ministry Saint Clare’s Hospital, Weston.
Alice was born Oct. 18, 1945, in Wausau, daughter of the late Albert and Alice (Weber) Krause, Sr. She married Maurice “Rudy” Tewes on Nov. 29, 1988. He survives.
Alice had been a homemaker and a beautician. She had worked for Ruth Semling and had also worked at Estelle’s Beauty Salon, both located in Merrill. For many years Alice also worked at the Hodag Music Festival in Rhinelander. She enjoyed volunteering her time with HAVEN in Merrill, playing bingo, and casino trips. Alice was a foster mother for several years. She was proud to be a “Jefferson Award” winner.
Survivors include her husband, Maurice “Rudy” Tewes, of Merrill; two daughters, Michele (Tim) Seiwert and Rhonda (Todd) Knoblock, both of Merrill; two sons, Henry (Tammy) Puphal, of Abbotsford, and James Tewes, of Merrill; 10 grandchildren, Steven, Dakota, Dustin, Ashley, Jake, Danyssa, Alyssa, Dallas, Eli and Kyle; two great grandchildren, Akiralexia and Zayne; two sisters, Lois Wold, of Merrill, and Judith (Jerry) Schmidt, of Tomahawk; two sisters-in-law, Joan Krause, of Wausau and Carol Krause, of Merrill; and many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, Alice was preceded in death by a granddaughter; and three brothers, Albert Krause, Jr., Roger Krause and Warren Dale Krause.
The Funeral Liturgy will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday, April 25, at the Taylor-Stine Funeral Home, Merrill. Father Michael McLain will preside. Burial will follow in St. Francis Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Thursday and after Noon Friday, all at the funeral home.
