?Shed Some Light on Mental Health Walk? a success

The 2nd Annual “Shed Some Light on Mental Health Walk” was held on Saturday, Sept. 28, at Veterans Memorial Park in Tomahawk. Participants walked to support a family member or friend who suffered from mental illnesses. The purpose of the walk was to bring awareness to suicide and increase awareness on mental health disorders.

Information booths from Aging and Disability Resource Center of Central WI (ADRC), Behavioral Health Services – Ministry, Family Counseling Services, HAVEN and Northcentral Health Care Center were onsite. Resources from Mental Health of WI and Lincoln County Veteran’s Services were also available. Guest speakers included Mayor Bob Lee and Andrea Stefonek.

“Shed Some Light on Mental Health Walk” was sponsored by Lincoln County Suicide Prevention Task Force. Lincoln County residents, along with the Task Force, are concerned about the number of suicides. It is important that individuals are aware of the signs of mental health disorders, the services that are available and that mental health is as important as physical health.
Lincoln County Task Force would like to thank all those who participated, including the above organizations and guest speakers.
