Paul G. Lange

Paul G. Lange, age 77, of Merrill, died Thursday, June 9, 2011, at Ministry St. Clare’s Hospital, Weston.
Paul was born June 28, 1933, in Gleason, son of the late Paul E. and Bertha (Bagley) Lange. He married Doris Wanless on August 20, 1955, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Merrill. She survives. Paul was a self employed carpenter and did both residential and commercial construction. Paul and Doris leased and operated “Schulz’s Country Inn” in the town of Scott for seven years. He worked for five years in the housekeeping/maintenance department at Pine Crest Nursing Home, Merrill. Paul was currently employed part time in maintenance at the BP Convenience Store/A&W Restaurant, Wausau. Paul enjoyed outdoor activities like feeding the birds, and caring for his lawn and gardens; building homes, anniversary and birthday trips with his wife to the casino; and taking shopping trips and three cruises with his wife. Paul was a former scout leader and little league coach for his children when they were growing up. Paul served with the U.S. Army and was a proud veteran of the Korean War. He had been stationed in Germany and France. Paul was a life member of the V.F.W.
Survivors include his wife, Doris Lange, of Merrill; one daughter, Melanie (David) Roth, of Wausau; two sons, Jeffrey Lange, of Eau Claire, and Michael Lange, of Wausau; three grandchildren, Zachary Lange, Joshua Woller, and Sara Crossman; two great-grandchildren, Alexis and Madison; two sisters, Marcella (Elmer) Heinichen, of Merrill, and Genevieve Jensen, of Elkhorn; two brothers, Leslie (Harriet) Lange, of Merrill, and Byron (Janet) Lange, of Tomahawk; and one sister-in-law, Betty Lange, of Merrill. Paul is preceded in death by one brother, Ronald Lange; and two brothers in law, Clifford Jensen and James Hopp.
The funeral service will be at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, June 15, 2011, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Merrill. The Rev. Scott Gustafson will officiate. Burial will take place in Immanuel Lutheran Church Cemetery, Town of Corning, Lincoln County, with graveside military rites conducted by the Merrill V.F.W. Post 1638 Honor Guard. Visitation will be from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Tuesday at the Taylor-Stine Funeral Home, Merrill, and after 9:30 A.M. Wednesday at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Trinity Lutheran Church, Merrill.
