On Monday, April 8, 2024, the Edgar Wildcats came to play the Merrill Bluejays at the Merrill Area Recreation Complex in one of the Merrill Varsity Girls Softball Team’s first games of the season. The Lady Jays celebrated an 8-6 win against the Wildcats, with Ava Detert going 2-2 with a walk, a single, a double, and 2 RBI; Caina Orzech 2-4 with two singles and one RBI; and Katie Heckendorf 2-4 with a single and a triple. Mackenzie Herdt and Sophie Wendorf took turns on the mound, with Herdt pitching five innings (start and the save) – nine strike outs, with four looking, and Wendorf pitching two innings – two strike outs, one looking.
