Susan “Sue” R. Weiland

Susan “Sue” R. Weiland, age 64, of Weston, WI, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, March 25, 2024, while at Pine Crest Nursing Home in Merrill, WI. 

Sue was born to the late Rev. Richard and Irene (Kuckkan) Mueller on January 17, 1960, in Lusaka, Zambia, Africa.  She attended and graduated from Northwestern Lutheran High School in Watertown, WI, before going on to earn her degree in radiology. She met the love of her life, James Weiland, and the two exchanged marriage vows in 1982. Her husband preceded her in death on January 22, 2018.

Sue worked for most of her adult life as a radiology technician.  She was adventurous, energetic, incredibly fun to be around, and not afraid to take risks! She had a smile that could light up a room and was always very involved with her children and grandchildren. Family was a priority in her life, and she faithfully attended all of their events including concerts, sporting events and plays. 

Sue cherished family time with her loved ones including her significant other, Ken Wiesman. Whether it was camping, chatting around a campfire, enjoying music concerts, or attending holiday gatherings, she liked to keep the traditions going.

In her younger years, Sue enjoyed barrel racing with her horses and was active in the local 4-H. She had a true love and passion for her horses and could often be found working with them and spending time with her horse friends, the “Friday Fillies!”She loved to enjoy the sunshine and kayak, swim, waterski, take a ride in the boat, jet ski, and garden.

Church was an important part of Sue’s life and she was a God-fearing woman that had an incredibly strong faith. For many years, she sang in the church choir. Sue was a member of Mountain of the Lord Lutheran Church in Rib Mountain. Sue is remembered as a warm, loving and independent woman that will be dearly missed.

Sue leaves behind her children: James (Karen) Weiland of Rothschild, WI, Brian (Jessica) Weiland of Kronenwetter, WI, Becky (Patrick) Kluck of Wausau, WI, Christina (Wayne Krutke) Weiland of Elcho, WI and Laura (Ross) Gottschalk of Columbus, OH, her beloved grandchildren: Jimmy, Josh, Belle, Jovie, Foster, Gabriel, Grace, Miley, Asher and Raphael, siblings: Debbie (Glen) Wilson, Richard “RJ” (Wanda) Mueller, Tim (Sue) Mueller, Stephanie (Jeff) Heitsch and Steve (Melody) Mueller, along with her companion dog: Daisy and numerous nieces, nephews and good friends.  She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband: Rev. James “Jim” Weiland.

The funeral service for Sue will be held on Wednesday, April 3, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church in Merrill.  Pastor Andrew Buschkopf will officiate.  Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 2, 2024, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Waid Funeral Home in Merrill, and again on Wednesday, April 3, 2024, at the church, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service.  Burial at the Merrill Memorial Park Cemetery will immediately follow the service.
