Kathleen( Kay) Cecelia Johnson

Kathleen( Kay) Cecelia Johnson, 89, died March 18th, 2024 at Wisconsin Veterans Home at King.  Kay was born in Tomahawk, WI on March 20th, 1934 to Anna and Alfred Turgeon.  She was a graduate of Tomahawk High School. She met her husband-to-be while roller skating one weekend.  Kay then moved to Merrill to work at Carl’s Foodlane.  She went on to marry Ed Johnson on June 25th, 1955. She also worked at J.C. Penny in downtown Merrill and then went on to do suit alterations from home.  She assisted her husband’s business (Ed’s Shell Service) as bookkeeper.

Kay was a loving and devoted wife and mother to 3 children. Her home and her kids meant the world to her. She enjoyed participating in various card clubs, Christian Women’s Club, and spending time with family, especially her grandchildren.

She is survived by two daughters, Barbara(Mike) Ziemke, and Mary(Chris) Frisch.  Grandchildren Mitchell(Emily) Ziemke , Colton and Lacey Frisch, and Lindsey(Cadie) Johnson.

Step Grandchildren Mindy(Jake) Strese and Michelle(James) Brown. Great Grandchildren David Ziemke, Owen and Jackson Meehean, and James Jr. and Ellen Brown.

Kathleen was preceded in death by her husband, Edwin W. Johnson, and son Robert G. Johnson. Parents Alfred and Anna Turgeon along with two brothers and eight sisters also preceded her in death.

Services were held at Central Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Chapel in King, WI on Wednesday, March 27, 2024.
