For week ending March 10, 2024
On 01/04/2024 a deputy on patrol was traveling northbound on USH 51 near CTH H when he observed a southbound vehicle enter the median, become airborne, and roll to final rest. The deputy immediately stopped to investigate and found that the occupants of the vehicle had been injured. The deputy called for additional help and then began to render aid to the injured parties. Upon investigating, the driver of the vehicle thought he maybe drifted off the road when he looked down to grab his coffee and the result was the crash. Both parties in the vehicle were transported by EMS, no citations have been issued, and no other vehicles were involved in the crash.
On 03/08/2024 deputies were sent to an address on W. Prospect St. in Tomahawk for a reported domestic dispute. Tomahawk officers were busy on an unrelated matter at the time and requested the assistance of the sheriff’s office. The domestic was reported to be a physical fight between a mother and her 17-year-old daughter. It was further reported that the 17-year-old female was out of control kicking and screaming. Upon arrival, deputies found that the mother was holding the 17-year-old down while she continued to be aggressive. The first deputy on scene went to handcuff the 17-year-old right away, and as he did this, the female resisted and tried to kick and bite the deputy. The 17-year-old was transported to the Aspirus Tomahawk Hospital for medical clearance during which time she continued to act violently/aggressively towards the deputies. At one point the 17-year-old did kick at one of the officers, striking him in the groin and causing him pain. Following medical clearance, the 17-year-old was transported to the Lincoln County Jail where she was booked on resisting arrest and battery to a law enforcement officer.
During this timeframe, deputies conducted 30 traffic stops, 67 security checks, 3 domestics, 4 car vs deer crashes, and 1 car vs eagle crash. The 911 Center took 8 hang-up calls and 16 nuisance calls.
