MERRILL POLICE DEPARTMENT REPORTS

01-29-24
At 1:05 p.m. a 14-year-old student was cited for disorderly conduct. After creating a disturbance in the classroom, he was asked to leave by the teacher, which prompted the student to use profanities toward the teacher.

01-30-24
At 3:10 p.m. an officer took a report of a theft of a delivered package from a residence. The investigation is ongoing.
At 6:56 p.m. an officer took a report of a shoplifting incident that had occurred at a business. Two individuals were cited for retail theft and banned from the business.

01-31-24
At 6:48 a.m. officers responded to a disturbance at a residence. Officers ultimately arrested a male subject for disorderly conduct.

02-01-24
At 10:33 p.m. officers were dispatched to an apartment on E. 2nd St. in regards to a disturbance. During the investigation, the male party was arrested for domestic disorderly conduct.

02-02-24
At 11:41 a.m. a male was arrested for a probation violation at the request of the Wisconsin Department of Corrections.
At 2:50 p.m. the School Resource Officer investigated and cited a male student after he was found to be in possession of THC products on school grounds.

02-03-24
At 8:26 a.m. a caller reported her boyfriend had her vehicle and was to return the previous day and was refusing to return it. Phone contact was made with the man who claimed he was in Michigan and couldn’t return the vehicle until the next day. The man and vehicle were determined to be in Wausau. Wausau officers located the man and vehicle, and he refused to turn over the keys. He was arrested for resisting-obstructing an officer, operating a motor vehicle without owner’s consent, and multiple counts of bail jumping for Merrill PD. Wausau officers also located drug paraphernalia in the vehicle, and he was arrested by that agency for drug charges and multiple counts of bail jumping.
At 5:39 p.m. a caller reported earlier in the day she and her son had been in the upper level of their residence and heard noise from outside. They discovered a male appeared to be attempting to enter their residence. The man was scared off once he discovered there were people at the residence. Investigation continues.

02-04-24
At 8:49 a.m. a caller reported observing a vehicle in a parking lot that had a smashed windshield and what appeared to be hair among the breakage. It was found the driver had struck a turkey on his way to work.
At 12:47 p.m. a caller reported a man had fallen and was lying near a park. It was found the man was intoxicated and fell asleep at the location. He was checked by EMS and released.
At 3:45 p.m. a caller reported finding a syringe lying in a snowbank along a street. An officer collected the syringe and properly disposed of it.
