Merrill woman arrested for OWI, fourth offense

On Jan. 1, 2024, at 2:15 a.m., a 29-year-old Merrill woman was arrested for operating a motor vehicle under the influence (OWI), fourth offense, according to a press release issued by the Wisconsin Department of Transportation (DOT) Wisconsin State Patrol (WSP).
A Trooper with the Wisconsin State Patrol Wausau Post stopped a black 2018 Hyundai Elantra on Schofield Ave. near Alderson St. in Marathon County for exceeding the posted speed limit and a registration violation. Indicators of impairment were observed in the driver, Marissa Rose Atkinson, and a subsequent investigation, including field sobriety tests, indicated the driver was operating under the influence and she was arrested.
Pursuant to the direction of the Wisconsin Supreme Court, as found in Supreme Court Rule 20:3.6, Trial Publicly, you are advised that a charge is merely an accusation and that a defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
