Park City Credit Union supports local communities with $3,800 donation to area food pantries

In the wake of increased demand for assistance at local food pantries due to lingering effects of the pandemic and rising costs, Park City Credit Union stepped up to support its community. The credit union made a significant impact during the holiday season with a donation of $3,800 to food pantries in Minocqua, Merrill, Rhinelander, and Tomahawk. This contribution highlights the credit union’s strong commitment to addressing urgent community needs and enriching the lives of residents.
All area food pantries have experienced dramatic increases in utilization after the extra food benefits from COVID ended. The Rhinelander food pantry has seen almost triple the utilization of some of their student programs. Similarly, the Merrill food pantry had almost 40 new households enroll in their program, reflecting the growing need in these communities.
In Merrill, 172 turkeys were purchased for the local food pantry. Throughout November, every family visiting the pantry received a turkey, ensuring everyone had the opportunity to enjoy a traditional Thanksgiving meal.
At the Rhinelander Area Food Pantry, funds were used to acquire essential Thanksgiving items such as stuffing, broth, gravy, cranberry sauce, green beans, mushroom soup, and pumpkin. This support benefited around 350 households. Surplus funds were used to provide additional items like pies and butter, adding a special touch to the holiday meals.
Following these specific contributions, it’s important to recognize the broader impact of the total $3,800 donation. This amount, distributed across various food pantries, not only addressed immediate needs, but also supported the ongoing efforts of these organizations to serve their communities. The collective benefit of this donation extended beyond the holiday season, contributing to the resilience and well-being of families across the region.
Park City Credit Union’s commitment to community support was further demonstrated by staff members volunteering at these pantries, showcasing a deep-rooted culture of giving and community involvement.
The cumulative effect of the credit union’s Thanksgiving initiative was a testament to the power of community support, illustrating how strategic contributions can make a significant difference, bringing hope and relief to many during challenging times.
