Harry Donald Doering, 95, of Elk Grove Village, Illinois, devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, formerly of Merrill, WI, passed away Sunday, October 29, 2023, at his home in Elk Grove Village, Illinois.
Harry was born June 16, 1928, and raised in Doering, Wisconsin. He graduated from Merrill High School and later attended Spencerian Business College in Milwaukee, where he met Joyce Beaudry. They were married on October 22, 1955, in Merrill.
Harry worked as a salesperson for the Rhinelander Paper Company for most of his life and was the owner of Doering Trees, selling Christmas trees and evergreen products throughout the Northern Illinois area. Harry was a Korean War Veteran. His passion was spending time at his cabin in the woods on a lake his father developed and built in Gleason, Wisconsin. Harry loved traveling with his wife Joyce including trips to Russia, Japan, Australia, New Zealand, Germany, France, Netherlands, Switzerland and many other amazing destinations throughout the world. Harry was a devoted race fan and attended the Indy 500 car race for over 50 years. He also enjoyed attending and watching Green Bay Packer football games.
Harry is survived by his children: Rick (Cindy) Doering of Barrington, IL & Debbie (Kerry) Field of Elk Grove Village, IL; grandchildren: Kelly Doering, Dan (Shana) Doering & Tyler (Kelly) Doering; Jaime (Greg) Painter & Nick (Ashley) Andriopoulos; Ryan (Lauren) Field, Emily (Alex) Smolan, & Alec Field; great-grandchildren: Avery, Harper Field; Evelyn, Luke, Eli Doering; Grace, Heidi, James Doering; Sophie, Gemma Painter; and Colton Andriopoulos; son-in-law, Bill Andriopoulos of Elk Grove Village, IL.
Harry was preceded in death by wife, Joyce E. (Beaudry) Doering; daughter, Cheryl L. (Doering) Andriopoulos; parents, Harry G. and Katherine (Bloechl) Doering; sisters: Elaine (Lester) Sukow, Dorothy (Marvin) Kanitz, brothers: Roy (Nancy) Doering, and Norbert Doering.
Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 7, 2023, at the Taylor-Stine Funeral Home, Merrill, WI. The funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m. Burial will take place in Doering Cemetery, Town of Schley, Lincoln County.
