Merrill Boys Varsity Football

Last Friday night, Merrill’s Varsity Football Team traveled to Lakeland Union High School for an away game and came home feeling a bit defeated.
“The first win of the season has still eluded our young team,” said Merrill Head Varsity Football Coach Jason Wadzinski. “Lakeland played a nice game Friday night and our boys battled, but we couldn’t string enough positive things together to get any traction.”
The 35-0 score was a tough way to end the evening, but three Merrill players are being recognized as the top players of the game. #3 Jacob Schmeltzer completed the game with 75 passing yards, #20 Callum Wheeler got in 39 rushing yards, and #2 EJ Weix had 32 receiving yards.
The Merrill Varsity Football Team has a home game scheduled for this Friday night. “This week will be our Tackle Cancer Night at Jay Stadium with Ashland coming to town,” Wadzinski said. “Please consider coming over and cheering loud and proud for a nice night of football and a good cause.”

Box Score:
Merrill 0 @ Lakeland 35
