Caylors donate Kaltenborn poster

Gus and Val Caylor recently donated a framed poster of Merrill native H.V. Kaltenborn to the Merrill Area Housing Authority (MAHA). Kaltenborn, known in the early days of radio as the “Voice of America” was raised on E. 1st St. where Jenny Towers stands today. The City of Merrill recently dedicated an honorary street sign commemorating Kaltenborn’s early life in this city, and the poster was used by Merrill historian Tom Burg for the ceremony. The Merrill Historical Society agreed to donate the poster to Jenny Towers, and the Caylors had it framed and labeled. The picture will hang on the first floor of Jenny Towers so residents can remember Kaltenborn and his contributions. In photo, L to R: Pictured are Gus and Val Caylor and Jamie Schmeltzer from MAHA.
