Dubbed “Bento Break,” the Merrill Area Chamber of Commerce and Crossbridge Community Bank sponsored a lunchtime concert in Banker’s Square Thursday, July 20, 2023. Mattea Joy, a local musician who is just 18 years old, played many well-known favorite songs in a variety of genres, including some original songs, to a small crowd that came and went over the “lunch hour” from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
A short sprinkle didn’t dampen the mood of those gathered to enjoy current hits, some classic rock, and a little of everything. Umbrellas came out for a few minutes, but the show went on uninterrupted.
The concert was the first in a new Chamber-organized Banker’s Square Lunchtime Concert Series.
The next concert in the series will be Wednesday, Aug. 30, 2023, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and will feature Michael David Sargent. Mark your calendars to grab lunch that day and meet in Banker’s Square to enjoy the music.
