MAPS accepts April donations

The following donations were approved and/or accepted at the April 19, 2023, Merrill Area Public Schools (MAPS) Board of Directors meeting:
Donation of funds from the Aspirus Merrill Hospital valued at $6,500 for SEL committee review of curriculum and to participate and conduct trainings, review appropriate lessons for each grade level to personalize lessons for students, and communicate with building level staff about implementation of the curriculum; a check from Church Mutual valued at $250 for the Kate Goodrich PBIS Program; a check from Central Carpet and Flooring valued at $50 for the Kate Goodrich PBIS Program; funds from Diane Belter and James Prete valued at $200 for The Nest at the high school in memory of Steve Willis, Merrill graduate; funds from the Merrill Area United Way valued at $1,000 for The Nest at Kate Goodrich, Washington, PRMS, and MHS; 10 KEMOs from Scott Streich valued at approximately $200 for MAPS in memory or Bud Taylor; funds from Los Mezcales valued at $500 for the MHS Travel Club Classical Adventure, 2023, and to help defray the cost of student participants’ trip; the following donations from the Merrill Aqua Jay Swim Team: a backstroke starting device, valued at $900; backstroke flags, valued at $649; a timing cable backbone, valued at $1,120; hand paddles, valued at $357; and, foot fins, valued at $663; funds from Richard and Sharon Schmidt valued at $200 for Merrill High School lunch accounts; funds from the Optimist Club of Merrill valued at $1,000 for MHS Teen Mental Health First Aid curriculum; and, funds from Aspirus Merrill Hospital valued at $2,000 for providing programs for MHS students identified with substance-related needs by pupil services, administration, and school resource officer.
