A Winter Storm Warning has been issued for our area, with potential for heavy snow and sleet, including possibly 8 to 14 inches of snow and ice accumulations of up to 1/10 of an inch, along with gusting winds, some gusts as high as 40 mph. The calendar might say spring, but Old Man Winter isn’t ready to leave our area just yet and March looks like it’s going to go out as a lion!
This Winter Storm Warning is for Lincoln, Langlade, Vilas, Oneida, Forest, and Florence Counties. This includes the cities of Merrill, Tomahawk, Rhinelander, Antigo, Commonwealth, Aurora, Crandon, Eagle River, Spread Eagle, and Lac du Flambeau, among others.
The Winter Storm Warning is in effect from this evening, Friday, March 31, 2023, at 7:00 p.m. until tomorrow morning, Saturday, April 1, 2023, at 10:00 a.m.
Travel could be very difficult to impossible. Widespread blowing snow could significantly reduce visibility.
If you MUST travel, keep an extra flashlight, blankets, a cell phone charger, food, and water in your vehicle in case of emergency. The latest road conditions are available by calling 511.
