Sharon Kay Sandwisch

Sharon Kay Sandwisch, 79, of Littleton, Colorado, passed away peacefully on February 1 after a 6-month battle with Glioblastoma brain cancer. Sharon was born on March 11, 1943 to Karl and Gladys Heldt and was raised on a farm in Merrill, Wisconsin. She graduated from Merrill Senior High School in 1961. She then spent 2 years in Milwaukee, before summoning the courage to take a one-way bus ride to Santa Barbara, California. There she was hired as a receptionist by GE and was introduced to a young engineer, Galen Jay Sandwisch. They fell deeply in love and were married in the summer of 1966. The couple enjoyed spending time outdoors where Sharon developed a deep love of snorkeling – a passion she carried for the rest of her life.

Sharon gave birth to her son Steven Jay in 1970, and daughter Tanya Lea in 1974. She loved her children deeply and raised them with a generous heart. Sharon was always an adventurer and in 1974, started her interior design business, Shar Decor, which she successfully led for the next 30 years. After retirement and the passing of her husband, Sharon moved to Denver, Colorado to spend the remainder of her life with her children and grandchildren. Sharon was a vibrant woman who loved to spend time with people. She was famous for telling jokes and had many friends. She was an adoring wife, mother and Nana. We will dearly miss her youthful heart and daring spirit. Sharon was preceded in death by her mother Gladys Heldt, her Father Karl Heldt, husband Galen Sandwisch, and granddaughter Zoe Anderson. She is survived by her son Steven Sandwisch, daughter Tanya Anderson, brother Jerome Heldt, and grandchildren Katherine and Andrew Sandwisch and Megan Anderson.
