Thomas ‘Tom’ Raymond Lindquist

Thomas ‘Tom’ Raymond Lindquist, age 87, of Merrill, passed away on Wednesday, February 1, 2023, at Bell Tower Residence in Merrill, while under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care & Hospice Services.  He was born in Merrill on April 9, 1935, and was the son to the late Harold and Alice (Friday) Lindquist.  Tom met the love of his life, Kathaleen ‘Kathy’ Stiff and the two were united in marriage on October 16, 1975, in Tomahawk.  Sadly, Kathy passed away on June 27, 2021. Tom had worked at Wausau Paper as a systems analyst for several years before acquiring a floral supply business with his wife, Kathy.  Tom and Kathy would love driving from town to town, getting to know their florist clients and making friends all along the way.  Tom grew up around cars at Lindquist Motors, so naturally, he became fond of buying and selling cars, and driving.  When his family was younger, they would look forward to family camping trips , especially around the holidays.  Tom was very active with the Jaycees and Merrill Lions Club, helping with the stands at the county fair.  He was also an active member at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church in Merrill, and served on the church committee.  Tom is remembered as a kind and patient man, that was quiet, but could also tell some good jokes!  He will be missed dearly, but is now reunited with Kathy, who he loved more than anything.

Tom is survived by his children from a prior marriage: John Lindquist of Atlanta, GA, Patricia Lindquist of Merrill, WI and Lisa Lindquist of Atlanta, GA, sister: Marge English of Merrill and numerous nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents, wife: Kathaleen Lindquist, brothers: Infant James Lindquist and John ‘Jack’ Lindquist and brother-in-law: John English.

The memorial service for Tom will be held on Tuesday, February 14, 2023 at 2pm at Waid Funeral Home in Merrill. Pastor Kathy Tulman will officiate. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 14, 2023, from 12pm until the time of the service, also at the funeral home. Burial of his cremated remains will take place at the Calvary Cemetery in Tomahawk, WI at a later date.
