MERRILL POLICE DEPARTMENT REPORTS

12-12-22
At 3:39 p.m. officers responded to a physical altercation occurring in the parking lot of a business. It was found that the altercation had occurred between two males after one of their vehicles had been damaged. Investigation is ongoing.
At 9:27 p.m. an individual on a bike was stopped after they were observed with no tail light on the bike. The individual was warned for the violation.

12-13-22
At 3:40 p.m. a two-vehicle crash was reported, after the striking vehicle failed to see the vehicle in front of them stop. The driver of the striking vehicle was issued a citation for the incident.

12-14-22
At 1:33 p.m. a caller reported he had a package that showed as delivered but he had not received it. It is unknown at this point if the package was stolen or delivered incorrectly and further investigation is ongoing.
At 5:10 p.m. a caller reported receiving a threatening letter indicating his barking dog may be poisoned if it continued barking. Investigation is ongoing.
At 10:46 p.m. a caller reported some juveniles stole his Christmas lights from outside his residence. A short time later another call in the area of a stolen Christmas light was reported. Fresh tracks in the snow resulted in the three juveniles being located. They had removed Christmas decorations from several yards. The three youths were cited for destruction of property.

12-15-22
At 6:48 a.m. an officer investigated a crash in the 1300 block of E. Main St. A vehicle slid on ice, striking another vehicle.
At 3:12 p.m. officers received information about a female at a residence who had a warrant for her arrest through Marathon County. Officers located the female outside of the residence getting into a vehicle. She was arrested for the warrant.
At 3:27 p.m. a caller reported a male was making vulgar comments to him at a store and attempted to get him to fight with him. The caller reported he did not know who the man was or why he was upset with him.
At 11:05 p.m. a female was arrested for a warrant through the Wisconsin Department of Corrections.

12-16-2022
At 7:03 a.m. a two-vehicle crash was reported at an intersection. At the time of the crash, no one was reported to have been injured. Both vehicles were removed by a tow truck.
At 7:58 a.m. a two-vehicle crash was reported after a vehicle following another had failed to slow down when the front vehicle hit their brakes. Both vehicles were able to be driven away from the scene. The driver of the second vehicle was issued a citation for following too closely.
At 4:00 p.m. an altercation was reported at a residence between a male and a female. Before officers arrived, the male left the residence, but he was later located at his own residence. After speaking with both parties, it was determined that there was a verbal altercation between the two of them which escalated to becoming physical before the male left.
At 6:48 p.m. officers responded to an altercation at a residence between a male and a female. The two individuals had got into a verbal argument which escalated into it becoming physical. The male then fled the house before officers’ arrival. The male was later located still on the property and taken into custody for the incident.

12-17-2022
At 2:04 p.m. an individual reported that he had received a scam call from someone stating that they were from the Publisher Clearing House. The reporting party stated that the scam caller requested he put $500 on gift cards to pay for all the stuff that he would get later on from the clearing house. No money was put onto gift cards, and the report was made for informational purposes.
At 4:37 p.m. an odor of marijuana was reported to be coming from an apartment. Officers made contact with two individuals inside, one of whom was found to have a warrant. The other individual was also taken into custody for charges in an unrelated case. A citation was issued for the possession of marijuana, as well.
At 10:05 p.m. a suspicious vehicle was reported parked in front of a residence. Contact was made with one individual inside who was found to be under the influence of intoxicants. The individual was run through field sobriety tests and taken into custody. Methamphetamine was also located on the individual after the individual was searched.

12-18-2022
At 5:01 a.m. an individual was located slouched over in their running vehicle, while it was parked alongside the road. The individual was found to be under the influence of intoxicants and taken into custody.
At 11:09 p.m. an individual was stopped, after they were observed going through an intersection on a red light. The individual was issued a citation for failing to obey the traffic signal.
At 7:29 p.m. officers responded to a report of the odor of marijuana coming from an apartment. The tenant of the apartment allowed officers inside and admitted to smoking marijuana. A pipe and baggie of marijuana were collected as evidence, and the tenant was issued two citations.
