MERRILL POLICE DEPARTMENT REPORTS

11-28-2022
At 10:56 a.m., officers responded to a verbal altercation between a male and a female at a residence. After speaking with both parties, it was found that only a verbal disagreement had occurred.
At 8:15 p.m. officers responded to an apartment after yelling was heard between a male and female inside. All parties present at the apartment stated that the female had become upset at her boyfriend and began yelling at him. As a result of the incident, the female was warned for disorderly conduct.

At 8:39 a.m. a vehicle was stopped after the registered owner of the vehicle was shown to have an instructional permit through DOT records and only one person was observed in the vehicle. The driver was found not to be the registered owner and informed officers that she did not have a valid driver’s license. The female was issued a citation for operating after revocation.
At 4:31 p.m. a two-vehicle crash occurred on a main street after one driver failed to see the other vehicle in the lane next to them when going to merge. Both vehicles sustained minimal to no damage, so no crash report was completed or citations issued at this time.
At 10:36 p.m. a vehicle was stopped after it was observed operating without any taillights illuminated. The vehicle was also found not to be registered due to the owner recently buying it. The driver was warned for the registration and for the taillights.

At 4:27 a.m. a store reported finding a baggie containing suspected drugs lying on the floor. The substance was found to be methamphetamine. Investigation is ongoing.
At 8:12 a.m. a caller reported that someone had driven a vehicle through their yard, as well as through neighbors’ yards, sometime overnight.
At 1:23 p.m. a store reported a female stole grocery items. Officers reviewed surveillance video and investigation is ongoing.
At 2:51 p.m. a caller reported someone stole a package delivered to her apartment. The officer will be reviewing surveillance video and continuing the investigation.

12-01-2022
At 11:06 a.m. a caller reported someone stole the contents of his wallet while he was at his place of employment. Investigation is ongoing.
At 11:46 a.m. a caller reported someone gained access to his bank account, removing money without his consent. Investigation is ongoing.
At 3:24 p.m. a male was arrested for a probation violation.
At 3:54 p.m. a caller reported he fell victim to an online scam. Investigation is ongoing.

12-02-2022
At 12:56 p.m. officers responded to a report of a cat stuck in a tree. Officers were able to get the cat down and back to the owner.
At 4:13 p.m. a package was reported as stolen from a front porch. With a picture from the resident’s ring doorbell, the suspect was identified as a nearby neighbor. Contact was made with the female, and she was taken into custody for theft.
At 9:59 p.m. an individual reported that a Christmas decoration they had on their lawn had been broken. The investigation is ongoing at this time.

12-03-2022
At 2:29 p.m. officers responded to a report of a dog that was outside all day without shelter. Contact was made with the homeowners, and it was confirmed that the dog was able to go in and out of the house as it needed for shelter.

12-04-2022
At 2:37 p.m. a garage was reported to be on fire. The Merrill Fire Department and officers responded to the fire. The fire was extinguished by the fire department.
At 5:39 p.m. officers responded to a report of an individual yelling and swearing at the reporting party because they had parked behind the female. The female was warned for the yelling and swearing.
