Merrill is a Tree City USA

Merrill Mayor Steve Hass proclaimed November 9, 2022, to be Arbor Day in Merrill. The Merrill Area Park and Recreation Department crew planted 93 trees this fall on City boulevards and in City of Merrill parks. “This marks our 36th year as Tree City USA, one of the longer standing Tree Cities in the State of Wisconsin,” said Dan Wendorf, Parks and Recreation Director for the City of Merrill. “We have been fortunate to achieve our goal each and every year of planting significantly more trees than we have to remove. This has helped us re-stock our boulevards and parks and helps beautify our community.” “We are proud to be a Tree City USA for such a long period of time, and we look forward to hopefully planting even more trees each year in the future,” he said.
