Beyond Books: Community ArtShare Exhibit

The T.B. Scott Library announced their Beyond Books: Community ArtShare Exhibit for September and October will be Bill Pittman: Fins and Feathers of the Northwoods.
Bill is a local artist, having moved with his wife to Merrill in 1970. He is originally from the Minneapolis area where he graduated from Augsburg University with degrees in Education, Art Education, and Health/Physical Education. He also was certified in Guidance and Counseling. Bill taught at Lincoln Hills for 30 years before retiring in 2000.
He credits his aunt with getting him interested in art when he was eight years old. He says the outdoors and wildlife of Northern Minnesota and Wisconsin inspire him. He now takes digital pictures while sitting in a duck boat, or while just out in the woods, for his backgrounds and wildlife subjects.
Most recently, Bill won the 2022-23 Trout Unlimited Stamp contest. In conjunction with that, the Wisconsin DNR used the image of his brook trout acrylic painting on the cover of the Guide to Wisconsin Trout Fishing Regulations 2022-2023 pamphlet.
Bill has been active in donating to numerous local and state charitable organizations over the years. Bill has graciously offered to donate 25% of all sales to the T.B. Scott Library Youth Department while his artwork is on display at the library. The exhibit is on the second floor of the library in the Carnegie Wing.
