Finalists were selected, and voting on the finalists has now begun, to determine the winners of the 2022 Council Grounds State Park Annual Amateur Photo Contest.
The public is invited to participate in the voting via the Friends of Council Grounds State Park Facebook page or by emailing votes to: [email protected].
Voters can only vote once and can vote for one photo in each of the four categories.
The categories are: Plants, Wildlife, People Using the Park, and Landscape.
In total, 8 entries were received in the Plants category, 12 in the Wildlife category, 9 in the People Using the Park category, and 15 in the Landscape category, and of those entries. 3 finalists were selected in each category by the Friends of Council Grounds State Park group. Entries came in from Merrill residents and from residents of eight other Wisconsin cities.
Voting runs through Sept. 15, 2022. To view the photos in person, they may also be viewed at the Council Grounds State Park office in Merrill or at the T.B. Scott Library in Merrill.
The first place winner in each category will receive a 2023 Wisconsin resident State Park vehicle admission sticker; second place winners will receive a gift certificate for merchandise from the Council Grounds Park contact station store.
The Friends of Council Grounds State Park is a non-profit group and holds the contest annually for fun and to show their appreciation of the park and park visitors. There is no cost to enter the contest or to vote in the contest.
