The Merrill Optimist Club and the Good News Project of Wausau will join forces to hold an Electronics Recycling Event on Friday, June 3, 2022, from 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. AND Saturday, June 4, 2022, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon at the Merrill Festival Grounds in the Sell Building. Please use the Sales Street entrance.

Computers, monitors, speakers, computer mice, keyboards, laptops, printers, scanners, computer parts, fax machines, televisions (all sizes/types), VCRs, DVD players, stereos, gaming systems, cell phones, cords and wires, air conditioners, dehumidifiers, microwaves, vacuums, and other electronics will be accepted.

The recycling is data secure, so your personal information on any/all devices will be secure. Cost to recycle these items is 45 cents per pound.

Smoke detectors may also be recycled; the cost is $15.00 each.

Recycling electronics keeps toxic materials out of our landfills and drinking water and promotes the reuse of valuable, limited resources, organizers say.

Electronics is the fastest growing component of waste materials, they add.

Businesses may call in advance to reserve early Friday morning appointments (Friday, June 3) if needed.
Proceeds from this event will benefit the Merrill Optimist Club and the Good News Project of Wausau.
Call 715.843.5985 for more information.

Postscript: The Friday afternoon date and time were added to our information too late to make the print edition, but we are adding this online in the hopes that Merrill residents will see it in time to participate on Friday, as well.
