April 22, 2022, marks the 52nd anniversary of the internationally celebrated Earth Day. This year’s theme is “Invest in our Planet” and the Lincoln County Conservation Program would like to provide three suggestions for residents to invest in our planet for a brighter future.
- As a consumer, consider purchasing sustainable alternatives. Every little bit helps – from choosing eco-friendly shampoos, sustainable forest products, recyclable materials, and more. Encourage businesses, innovators, inventors, and corporations to create value for themselves and society by driving green innovation.
- Invest in your living space and property. Some examples would be to install energy efficient appliances in your home, consider wildlife friendly landscaping alternatives, reduce your use of pesticide applications, and dispose of unwanted chemicals correctly – not down the drain.
- As a member of the community, join local cleanups, purchase from local farmers/businesses, plant a tree, or choose from dozens of other activities that will help keep our local natural resources abundant and thriving.
