Beyond Books: Community ArtShare presents a unique perspective of Merrill and surrounding areas during the month of April at the T.B. Scott Library.

Students in fifth through eighth grades at Trinity School worked on a project to showcase their favorite spots in Merrill. They started by drawing grids over their resource pictures and their 4” x 4” canvases to practice sketching in proportion (which is a great exercise in working with ratios).

Once their drawings were finished, they were given a set of acrylic paints and a color blending chart so they could mix the colors they needed for their pictures. Then they got to work painting their tiny masterpieces!

All materials were donated by T.B. Scott Library through the Youth Services programs. Every year Youth Services chooses a different local group and provides a special project for them to complete. This year it was art related and fit in nicely with the Community ArtShare exhibits. The students’ art will be displayed at the T.B. Scott Library during the month of April.
