Merrill Wrestling Banquet

On Monday, March 7, 2022, the Merrill Wrestling Team held their High School Wrestling Banquet at the Northwoods Veterans Post.

“The Wrestling Banquet was a great event to recognize all the wrestlers,” Head Varsity Wrestling Coach Brian Suchocki said. “It is a great way to look back on all the accomplishments.”
Athletes received 2021-22 Wrestling Awards, as follows.

OGRE AWARD – Awarded to the Senior who gets the most out of their ability, gives 100 %, and leads by example:  Wyatt Bathke
LEGION AWARD – Awarded to the Senior who that displays citizenship, leadership, sportsmanship, competitiveness, and value to the team:  Wyatt Bathke
Outstanding Varsity Wrestler – The Charles Gustin most valuable wrestler:  Ryder Depies
Most Improved Upper Classman (11 –12):  Brian Ball
Most Improved Lower Classman (9-10):  Callum Wheeler
Most Dedicated to Sport and Team:  Ryder Depies
Coaches Award (Jered Severt Memorial Award given to an upperclassmen who displays best what it means to be a Merrill Wrestler):  Ian Dreikosen
Most Pins Rod Genrich Memorial Award:  Wyatt Bathke – 24
Most Team Points:  Wyatt Bathke – 169
Most Takedowns:  Ryder Depies – 37
Merrill Female Wrestling Leadership Award – The leader of the team taking into account academics, character, role model, work ethic, and practice):  Brindelyn Eternicka
Merrill Female Wrestling Bluejay Award – Awarded to the wrestler who gets the most out of her ability:  Adeline Callos
Merrill Female Outstanding Wrestler Award – Awarded to the wrestler with the best skill level:  Allison Hunter
Merrill Female Most Improved Wrestler Award – Awarded to the wrestler who most improved during the season:  Brindelyn Eternicka
