Sarah Jean (Lange) Kitchen

Sarah Jean (Lange) Kitchen of Schofield, WI, passed away unexpectedly at St. Clare’s Hospital, Weston, on March 24, 2022, at age 49.  Sarah was a gentle and kindhearted wife, daughter, sister, auntie, and friend.  Sarah was born on July 31, 1972, to Arnold and Elizabeth Lange in Merrill, WI. She graduated Wausau West High School and attended Rasmussen College to earn her associate’s degree in health information and medical billing and coding certificate.  Sarah worked as a lead advanced medical support assistant at the Wausau Veterans Affairs Outpatient Clinic.  Sarah adored cats, worked for The Fix is In, Inc., was a member of the Central Wisconsin Cat Club, and secured homes for many cats and kittens during her short life.  On July 31, 2019, Sarah married Brian Kitchen, and operated S&B Scents and More and sold vintage Pyrex with Brian, enjoying weekends at local craft shows and flea markets. Sarah was also a regular, cooking or clerking, at Lange Auction Center.  She loved hot air balloons, speedy NASCAR and local races (serving as president of the Women Concerned for Auto Racing group), and baking Christmas cookies.

Sarah is survived by her husband, Brian; her six cats; her parents, Arnold & Elizabeth Lange; three sisters, Linda (Kyle) Shimek, Laura (Dave) Eastman, and Cynthia (Todd) Mattson; nephews (Patrick and Eli); and nieces (Jennifer, Paige, Elizabeth, Lauren, and Adaline).

Visitation will be held at Waid Funeral Home, Merrill, WI, on Friday, April 1, 2022, at 9:00 a.m. Service to follow at 11:00 a.m.  In lieu of flowers, please donate to the humane society of your choice.  Waid Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Merrill is assisting the family with arrangements.  Online condolences are encouraged and may be made at www.waidfuneral.com.
