Don Dale Ashby

Don Dale Ashby of Gleason, WI passed away on February 9, 2022 at The Bay at Eastview at the age of 86.  Don was born on February 5, 1936 in Coggon, IA to the late Donald and Daisy (Chismore) Ashby. Don graduated from Coggon High School. He went on to serve in the United States Air Force for 7 years from 1954 to 1961. On June 2nd, 1956, he was united in marriage to Margerit “Bonnie” Jean in Iron River, MI. Bonnie survives and resides in Gleason.  Don owned and operated a dairy farm, and later in life he was a owner-operator truck driver. He was a member of St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Neva. He was a lifetime VFW member and took part in the Honor Flight in 2018. He volunteered his time in the community as a past president of the Gleason Community Club and was a lifetime member of Lions Club, serving as a Past District Governor. He was also on the board of directors at the WI Lions Camp for 7 years. He was active in the Boy Scouts and was a member of the Order of the Arrow. He loved hunting, fishing, bowling, playing card games, golfing, snowmobiling, motorcycling and spending time with his grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, Don is survived by daughter Rose Marie (Denny Parkhill) of Amboy, WA, sons Scott (Beverly) Ashby of Merrill and Kevin (Barbara) Ashby of Gleason, 9 grandchildren: Amy (Dan), Jason, Andrew (Niki), Karter, Dustin (Chelsea), Rochelle (Andrew), Derek, Jesse, Desiree, and 19 great grandchildren: Reece, Cora, Ashtynn, Peyton, Jordan, Christopher, Kaitlynn, Aiden, Bryce, Austin, Dakota, Bridgett, Katherine (Calvin), Jennifer (Jared), Sarah, Khristina, Isabelle, Wyatt, Andrew, Jr., 2 great-great grandchildren: Calvin Jr., and Adelyn, sister-in-law Casey, niece Kim and nephew Shawn. Don was preceded in death by his parents, a son Donald Ashby, a daughter Christina (Ashby) Mikrut, and brother Craig Ashby.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 19th from 10:00 AM until 11:30 AM at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Neva. The memorial mass will follow at the church at 11:30 AM. Father Joel Sember will officiate.
