MERRILL POLICE DEPARTMENT REPORT

01-31-2022

At 7:31 a.m. a caller reported that sometime overnight someone entered his garage and went through his wife’s vehicle. Nothing was reported missing.

At 7:38 a.m. a caller reported that someone had entered his unlocked vehicle sometime overnight and stolen a subwoofer. Investigation is ongoing.

At 8:07 a.m. a caller reported someone had entered his unlocked vehicle sometime overnight. Nothing was reported to be missing.

At 9:30 a.m. a laundromat reported two people entered the business and attempted to steal from inside. Investigation is ongoing.

At 10:57 a.m. a caller reported his ex-girlfriend had used his debit card without his permission to make purchases. Investigation is ongoing.

At 12:18 p.m. a caller reported his vehicle had been parked along the street and another vehicle struck it and left the scene.

At 3:25 p.m. a caller reported she had lost her cell phone and had used an app which indicated the phone was at the Police Department. The officer found the cell phone had been turned in earlier and it was returned to the owner.

At 12:00 p.m. a caller reported someone had drilled the coin box of several coin operated dryers at an apartment complex, stealing the money from the coin boxes. Investigation is ongoing.

At 12:14 p.m. an officer conducted a traffic stop for a registration violation. The driver was found to have three warrants for his arrest. He was arrested for those warrants.

02-02-2022

At 9:33 a.m. an individual reported that while she was at work, someone had defecated on the passenger side floor board of her vehicle. The individual confirmed that her vehicle had not been locked while she was at work. At this time, there are no named suspects and the investigation is ongoing.

At 11:49 a.m. a wallet was located at a local business. The wallet was identified to a male by a license inside. Officers were unable to contact the male in order to return the wallet. The wallet will remain at the Police Department until the owner is located.

At 3:48 p.m. a crash occurred at W. Main St. and Genesee St. After investigation, it was found that the driver at the stop sign had pulled out, thinking there was enough time, when they were struck by the vehicle on Main St. The driver was cited for failure to yield right of way from a stop sign, operating without a valid license, and operating without insurance.

02-03-2022

At 1:21 a.m. officers responded to a possible fight in progress at a residence. After investigating, it was found that a verbal argument ensued between two parties at the residence. Both parties were found to have bond conditions of absolute sobriety and had consumed alcohol that night. As a result of violating their bond conditions, both individuals were taken into custody.

At 7:03 a.m. a truck was reported to have been vandalized by spray paint while parked in the resident’s drive way. Investigation is ongoing.

At 4:06 p.m. an individual reported that he had been notified by his bank that an account was being opened in his name and with his information. The male confirmed with his bank that it was not him who had wanted the account and so it was cancelled. The individual did not lose any money in the incident.

02-04-2022

At 10:06 a.m. a store reported a male came there yelling and swearing at an employee. It was found the male and the female employee were married. The male left, but contact was made with him shortly thereafter. He was arrested for domestic disorderly conduct.

At 2:19 p.m. a store reported a female had stolen a bottle of booze. The employee was able to provide some information that will be used to identify the suspect. Investigation continues.

02-05-2022

At 10:56 a.m. a caller reported that her mother’s boyfriend was choking her mother at a residence. Officers made contact with the boyfriend and girlfriend and found they had been involved in a verbal argument but nothing had become physical. There were no signs the girlfriend had been choked. They stated the daughter was upset because she was asked to leave the residence after causing problems.

At 1:47 p.m. a restaurant reported a customer was upset because a delivery had taken longer than anticipated. The customer called the restaurant twice and was yelling and swearing at employees. When an employee made the delivery, the customer yelled and swore at her and made a lunging motion toward her, causing her to fear for her safety and jump backward. Contact was attempted with the customer, who refused to speak with the officer. He will be charged with disorderly conduct.

At 7:07 p.m. the manager of an apartment complex reported a male who did not reside at the complex had gone into the basement. Officers checked the basement and did not locate anyone.

02-06-2022

At 12:40 a.m. officers were dispatched to a residence in reference to a male party who had an active warrant possibly being at a residence. Officers responded and determined the male party was not at the residence.

At 3:29 a.m. officers were dispatched to a report of a stolen vehicle from Wausau that was last seen traveling on E. Main St. An officer located the vehicle parked on a street unoccupied. The suspect was located and arrested for multiple warrants.

At 7:45 p.m. officers were dispatched to a report of a stolen trailer with an ATV on it. Information was gathered from the victim and the investigation is ongoing.
