Moonfall (Now showing in theatres)
Rated PG-13 – for language and peril

Hi everyone! Last weekend I was lucky enough to be able to see a sneak peak of this week’s new release, Moonfall.
This one is straight-up sci-fi epic, and it is a ton of fun. But I have to warn you, to really enjoy it, you need to abandon all semblance of rational thought and just roll with it. Trust me – it is absolutely worth it.

Moonfall’s basic premise is this: The Moon is out of orbit and earth is doomed. Enter every required science fiction movie trope – from the fallen hero to the quirky scientist that nobody would listen to. Toss in some kids, a little family drama, and there you have it: Checklist complete.

It is an old formula, we all know it well, and frankly, it should not work.

But it does. Big time.

This is a great movie. It’s fun, it’s well-paced with decent special effects, and it has a fun story. I found myself happily watching the story unfold as I munched my popcorn and watched the sci-fi cheese drip from the screen.

This is a popcorn movie, folks. It isn’t looking to pound a message into us, it isn’t pretending to be something it isn’t, and it left the politics where they belong – far, far away.

Opening Friday at the Cosmo, this one is well worth the price of admission, and it gets five solid stars out of five possible, because you know what? We need a good fun movie that asks only that we turn off our minds for a little while and enjoy the show. Moonfall is one that needs to be enjoyed on the big screen, so head to the cinema, buy the biggest popcorn they have, sit back, turn off rational thought, and enjoy one heck of a ride. Trust me – this is one that should not be missed.
