MERRILL POLICE DEPARTMENT REPORTS

12-06-21
At 9:51 a.m. a car dealership called about a male who had been there and became upset after finding he didn’t qualify for a loan. The man reportedly raised his voice and used vulgarities within the showroom. The man was located shortly thereafter and was warned for his disorderly behavior.
At 12:52 p.m. an assisted living facility reported several thefts from residents of the facility. A suspect was determined and investigation is ongoing.
At 2:16 p.m. an officer was investigating an animal complaint and became aware a male was inside an apartment who had a warrant for his arrest through the Wisconsin Department of Corrections. The tenant was told to have the man exit; however, the man had jumped out of the second floor window and fled on foot. Officers were able to follow the man’s tracks through the snow and located him at a nearby business where he was arrested for the warrant, resisting an officer, and bail jumping.
At 4:32 p.m. a store reported a youth had stolen merchandise over the past two days. The officer recognized the youth from surveillance footage. The male was located later and admitted to stealing items. He will be referred to Social Services for retail theft.

12-07-21
At 5:50 p.m. a caller reported someone had gone into her garage and also went through her vehicle before leaving the area in a vehicle. Nothing was reported to be missing.

12-08-21
At approximately 12:08 p.m. officers were dispatched to a residence on Cottage St. for a report of a theft, violation of court order, and battery. Officers investigated and there was no evidence that the events occurred.
At approximately 5:38 p.m. officers were dispatched to a on S. State St. in the City of Merrill. The reporting party stated that there were two men trying to enter his residence and he was hiding out in his bedroom. Officers investigated and it turned out the suspects were picking up car keys from the residence.
At approximately 6:24 p.m. an officer received a report of a domestic disturbance that occurred the day prior. The victim was currently at the Aspirus Wausau Hospital when she reported the incident. The suspect allegedly pushed the victim on the ground and threatened the victim with a firearm. There is a warrant for his arrest.

12-09-21
At 5:07 a.m. officers were called to a local laundromat for a report of a male party inside breaking items. It was discovered that a male party had broken a window to the apartment attached to the laundromat in an attempt to take clothing hanging inside the window, as well as broken a speaker/radio inside the laundromat. The male was arrested for burglary, obstructing, criminal damage to property, possession of THC, and misdemeanor bail jumping.
At 7:10 a.m. an officer was dispatched to a report of a vehicle break in. It was found that a snowmobile jacket was taken from the victim’s vehicle. It was later determined that the male who had been arrested at the afore-mentioned Laundromat had taken the jacket. The jacket was returned to the owner, and further charges of theft were forwarded on the suspect.

12-10-21
At 3:46 p.m. a crash was reported on Center Ave. at E 3rd St. A vehicle was stopped and the vehicle behind him was unable to stop in time due to slippery roadway conditions and struck the vehicle. A third vehicle behind them was also unable to stop and struck the second vehicle. A crash report was completed.
At 4:37 p.m. an officer observed a male he knew to have a warrant for his arrest enter a gas station. The officer made contact with the man and arrested him for the warrant.
At 6:48 p.m. a caller reported her boyfriend had been battering her over the past week. She found he had been requesting pornographic material from another female which caused an argument, leading to him slapping her in the head. She reported she had locked herself in a bedroom, and he broke down the door and jumped on her and bit her. He also reportedly shoved her in a wall multiple times. Officers observed a gem bag containing suspected methamphetamine. The female reported it belonged to the male. She also opened a drawer revealing a marijuana pipe and a methamphetamine pipe she reported belonged to him. The male was arrested for domestic battery, disorderly conduct, possession of methamphetamine, and possession of drug paraphernalia. The female was found to have a warrant for her arrest through the Wisconsin Department of Corrections and was arrested for that warrant.
At 8:31 p.m. a minor crash was reported on W. Main St. at State St. A vehicle had struck the rear of a vehicle stopped at the intersection. The striking driver was cited for operating without insurance.

12-11-21
At 1:10 p.m. a caller reported her neighbor was yelling and swearing at her minor children who were shoveling snow. The neighbor admitted to swearing at the children, as she was upset as she believed they had placed snow on her property. The neighbor was cited for disorderly conduct.
At 7:37 p.m. a store reported a male was driving around the parking lot honking his horn and nearly struck an employee. They also wished for the male to be banned from their store, as he has caused similar issues in the past. The male was found to have departed, leaving his vehicle on scene and leaving in another vehicle. He will be cited for disorderly conduct with a motor vehicle.

12-12-21
At 10:53 a.m. a store reported a male had stolen an item from their store and was picked up by another male. The employee was able to provide a registration plate for the vehicle they left in. An off-duty officer was able to follow the vehicle after it left the lot and observed the passenger and was able to positively identify him. Follow-up to continue.
At 4:52 p.m. a store reported two juveniles were stealing candy while their parents were checking out. The officer found a 14-year-old had shoplifted a container of mints and a 21-year-old male had shoplifted a pack of socks. Both were cited for retail theft.
At 10:54 p.m. a caller reported he found a male in a vehicle parked in his business. He told the man to leave and he did but parked at another closed business. An officer located the man who stated he had been in Merrill visiting a friend and parked, as he has a revoked driver’s license but has an occupational license but knew he was outside of his hours permitted to operate. It was found he was well outside of his hours, could not operate within Lincoln County, and could only operate for employment reasons. He was cited for operating after revocation (3rd offense).
