Merrill’s Wardall selected Academic All-District for UW-Whitewater Volleyball

WHITEWATER, Wis. – Morgan Wardall, a native of Merrill and member of the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater volleyball team, was named first team Academic All-District by the College Sports Information Directors of America for the 2021 season.

Wardall, a middle hitter, is one of seven members of the District 6 first team, which includes student-athletes from schools in Michigan, Minnesota, and Wisconsin. She carries a 3.90 grade point average and is majoring in communication with emphasis in public relations and a minor in general management.
Wardall helped the Warhawks finish the 2021 season with a 27-3 record, including a 6-1 mark in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, and reach the second round of the NCAA Tournament.

Wardall garnered second team All-American and first team All-Region accolades from the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) and first team All-WIAC honors. She currently ranks among the top five in the WIAC in hitting percentage (.350) and blocks (82 / 0.85 per set). Wardall earned All-Tournament Team recognition at three different tournaments this season.

A recipient of numerous academic scholarships out of high school, Wardall is a three-year member of the WIAC Scholastic Honor Roll. She is a regular volunteer visitor at Fairhaven Senior Services.
Wardall is now eligible to be named to the Academic All-America team, which is scheduled to be announced in December.

To be eligible for the Academic All-District and All-America award, student-athletes must carry a minimum 3.30 cumulative GPA on a 4.0 scale, must be starters or key reserves who have participated in at least 50 percent of the team’s contests at the position listed on the nomination form, and must have completed one full calendar year at their current institution and been on a college roster in that sport for two years.
