On Sunday Oct. 31, 2021, at 6:08 a.m. the Taylor County Sheriff’s Office received a phone call from a motorist reporting a subject laying unresponsive along with a large amount of blood on the roadway near the intersection of Elm Ave. and Hamm Dr. in the Township of Holway, Taylor County. Fire, ambulance, and law enforcement services were dispatched to the scene. CPR was performed by medical first responders, but the subject was ultimately pronounced dead at the scene.
The victim has been identified as Titus Kottke, age 27, of Athens, who had reportedly been seen walking in the area at about 3:30 a.m. Autopsy results showed the cause of death as consistent with being struck by a vehicle. This is an active investigation and currently still in progress by the Taylor County Sheriff’s Office. Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to call 715.748.2200.
