MERRILL POLICE DEPARTMENT REPORTS

10-11-2021
At 9:02 a.m. an officer was at the Courthouse and observed a male outside who had a warrant for his arrest. The man was arrested for two warrants, one through Lincoln County and the other through Marathon County.
At 1:48 p.m. a citizen found a daily planner on the roadway and turned it in. The owner was able to be determined and it was returned to him.
At 8:42 p.m. a caller reported her teenage daughter was writing on her vehicle with permanent marker, who was refusing to stop or listen to her. The daughter will be referred to Social Services for disorderly conduct. Less than two hours later officers were called back after the daughter had struck her mother. As such, the daughter will also be referred to Social Services for battery.

10-12-2021
At 9:34 a.m. a school reported a theft from a classroom. A suspect was named and admitted the stolen item was at his residence. Enforcement action to follow.
At 11:03 a.m. a male was arrested for a probation violation at the request of the Wisconsin Department of Corrections.

10-13-2021
At 12:30 p.m. an officer was dispatched to a local retailer for a report of a counterfeit $100. The investigation is ongoing.
At 3:06 p.m. officers were dispatched to a parking lot on N Pine Ridge Ave for report of a male party urinating on the side of the building. The investigation is ongoing.
At 6:27 p.m. an officer was dispatched for report of a car vs. deer on Riverside Ave. The vehicle suffered damage to the front bumper. Officers were unable to locate the deer.
At 8:52 p.m. dispatch advised of a property damage complaint at a factory building. There was a window that was reported to have been broken.

10-14-2021
At 4:51 p.m. dispatch advised of a disturbance at a residence on East St. A boyfriend and girlfriend got into a verbal altercation. The boyfriend was arrested for domestic disorderly conduct.
At 10:30 p.m. dispatch received a report of a male party sleeping in his vehicle on the side of the street on Woodbine Ave. Officers were able to identify the male party. The male party had an active warrant for a probation violation. Officer arrested the party on the warrant.
At 10:34 p.m. there was a report of an intoxicated pedestrian who fell asleep near a residence on E. 10th Street. An officer was able to give the pedestrian a ride back home without any issues.

10-15-2021
At 4:03 p.m. a male was arrested for a probation violation at the request of the Wisconsin Department of Corrections.
At 4:34 p.m. a male was arrested for a probation violation at the request of the Wisconsin Department of Corrections.
At 5:05 p.m. a caller reported someone stole insulin she had at another residence.
At 8:44 p.m. an officer stopped a vehicle for speeding. Two juvenile passengers were found to have been drinking intoxicants. The juveniles were cited for underage drinking and the driver was cited for speeding and driver’s license restriction violation.
At 11:34 p.m. an officer stopped a vehicle after observing it cross the center line. The driver admitted to crossing the center line as he was texting his wife. The officer observed characteristics indicative of intoxication. The driver agreed to field sobriety testing, most of which he refused to perform. He was arrested for operating while intoxicated.

10-16-2021
At 3:20 a.m. a caller reported her husband was intoxicated and pushing her around. The male reported nothing had occurred between them. The female reported the male had become upset that she would not provide him the vehicle keys given he was intoxicated. The male reportedly pushed the female, grabbed her by the shirt, and broke a light in the residence. The male then admitted to breaking the light, when confronted with the fact that there was broken glass all over the floor. He was arrested for domestic disorderly conduct.
At 4:41 a.m. a caller reported a residence on fire on Cotter Ave. When officers arrived, they found nobody outside of the residence and neighbors did not know if the occupant was home. An officer was able to track down the renter and confirmed nobody was inside. Officers provided traffic control while Merrill Fire Dept. battled the fire.
At 5:44 p.m. a caller reported her husband was high on drugs and had smashed her hand into the dashboard of their vehicle, causing injury to her thumb. The male then threw food items at the female and fled the area on foot. Officers searched for the man and were unable to locate him. On 10-17-21 the man was located and arrested for domestic battery and disorderly conduct.
At 8:49 p.m. a caller reported driving past three juveniles, and one threw a cup of water at her vehicle. She found the cup to be from a nearby gas station. The clerk of that gas station recalled the three juveniles. The gas station will be checking surveillance video to provide to an officer to identify the juveniles.

10-17-2021
At 12:55 p.m. a male reported he found a pair of jeans in the roadway. There was a credit card in one of the pockets identifying the owner. Contact was made with the owner and her jeans and credit card were returned to her.
At 2:42 p.m. a male reported he found a wallet with school ID lying on the sidewalk. An officer was able to locate the residence of the owner and turned over the wallet, ID card, and money to her mother.
At 6:38 p.m. a caller reported he was calling after seeing his picture on a Facebook post in which he was being accused of punching an actor at the Haunted Sawmill. He stated the picture was of him; however, he had not struck anyone. Nobody had reported being struck up to this point. The officer began investigating and found that a juvenile actor had, in fact, been struck. Investigation continues.
