The Northwoods Chapter of the Ice Age Trail Alliance will kick off their Annual Fall Color Hike in the colorful and rolling Harrison Hills in Lincoln County on Sunday, Sept. 26, at 12:00 noon. A 1 1/2-mile hike has been organized, leading to the new shelter, with a return 1/2 mile by trail and the remainder by road. The event will include dedication of the new shelter in the Harrison Hills, built in honor of Herb Schotz according to a press release announcing the event. Cookies and juice will be served. The brilliant colors of maple trees, mixed in with birch, aspen, oak, and evergreen trees, set amidst rolling hills, with small lakes dotting the landscape, provide a scenic opportunity to appreciate autumn in the Northwoods of Lincoln County.
Longer hike options are also available, including a three-mile Bus Lake Loop and a five-mile Lookout Mountain Loop.
The hike is open to the public at no cost, although free will donations for the local chapter are welcome.
