On Tuesday, August 17, Medic 62 and Medic 63 of the Merrill Fire Department and the Pine River First Responders and Fire Department responded to a one-vehicle accident on Big Eddy Road east of Merrill. The vehicle had struck a power pole, bringing down power lines.
Upon arrival on scene, Pine River Fire Department made verbal contact with the lone occupant of the vehicle due to power lines being down near the vehicle upon arrival.
Wisconsin Public Service (WPS) was notified to respond to shut down power. Once WPS was on scene and the vehicle’s occupant was able to exit the vehicle, EMS examined the patient. The patient refused transport.
