Brian Suchocki, 8th grade football coach and 6th and 7th grade football coordinator, has announced opportunities for Merrill area youth to play football.
7th and 8th grade tackle football
Both the first practice and the parent meeting for 7th and 8th grade tackle football players will be on Aug. 18 at the Prairie River Middle School (PRMS). Students should come for first practice from 3:30 – 5:30 p.m. and enter through Door 14. Students must be signed up before attending, have a sports physical completed, bring a padlock or $5 to purchase a lock, and wear cleats, shorts, and a t-shirt. “We will hand out equipment on the first day,” Coach Suchocki said.
The parent meeting will be held at 5:30 p.m. the same day in the PRMS Cafeteria, and parents should also enter through Door 14.
To sign up for tackle football, parents and athletes will each need to log in to Skyward separately and go to the Family Access area to complete the forms.
All athletes must have a current sports physical before the first practice. Physical cards are available at the high school activities office. Alternate year cards are available, as well, for those who had physicals last school year. More information will be given at the parent meeting.
5th and 6th grade flag football
“This year 5th and 6th graders interested in football can sign up for flag football with Merrill Park and Rec,” Suchocki said.
