Joseph Frank Laak

Joseph Frank Laak, 76, of Burnet, Texas, passed away on July 14, 2021.   Joe was born on August 24, 1944 in Merrill, WI. After graduating Merrill High School, he joined the United States Air Force and served in Vietnam stationed in Alaska and Thailand…Joe would say he went from 40 degrees below to 110 degrees in the shade. After Joe was discharged, he went back to Wisconsin and married Linda Wittwer and had two children, Sherri and Jeremy. The Laaks moved to Burnet, TX where Joe worked for GTE for almost 30 years.   When Joe wasn’t working, he enjoyed the outdoors with his family and made many great memories involving camping, fishing, Scouting, gardening, and watching sports. Joe was a member of the Burnet Knights of Columbus and the Our Mother of Sorrows Catholic Church.

Joe is survived by his wife, Linda, of 50 years and son Jeremy (Christine); his siblings Robert Sr., Jerry (Debbie), Mary (Arlen) Raduechel, Susan, Daniel (Joanne).   He is preceded in death by his parents Clarence and Margaret, his daughter Sherri Duke, and siblings Vivian (Lawrence) Sczygelski, Roy, Patricia (Wade) Thorne. Also brother-in-law, Lawrence Sczygelski and Sister-in-law, Julaine Laak.

Military honors at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen, TX are pending date.
