The Tomahawk Fire Department, along with several other area agencies, responded to a structure fire in the Town of Bradley on Monday, July 5, a post on the Department’s Facebook page said.
According to the post, at about 8:35 a.m., the Department was dispatched to an address on County Highway Y in the Town of Bradley for a reported structure fire.
Engine 3, Engine 5, Tender 6, and Rescue 1 were part of the Department’s initial response, as well as Tomahawk EMS. The Nokomis Fire Department was also requested for a full response, the Department said.
All occupants of the residence were able to evacuate before fire units arrived on the scene.
Upon arrival, responders found heavy smoke and fire coming from the roof line. Additional resources were requested from the Little Rice, Cassian, and Crescent fire departments. The Pine River Fire Department was requested for change of quarters and staffed an engine company at the Tomahawk Fire Department, and Merrill EMS also responded to Tomahawk for additional EMS coverage, the Department said.
“With the warm temperatures, mutual aid is vital in order to rotate firefighters out on scene to prevent heat emergencies,” the post stated. “Thankfully, no firefighters or others were injured or required any sort of medical treatment.”
In the post, Chief Brent Nyberg thanked all mutual aid agencies that responded in assistance.
“In times like this, it is good to know that we have the neighboring resources that are there to respond,” the post stated. “This was a collective operation between MABAS Division 155 and 114.”
