Caroline D. Frick

Caroline D. Frick, age 82, of rural Merrill, passed away on Saturday, June 12, 2021.  Caroline was born May 31, 1939 in Merrill, daughter of the late Gerhardt and Bertha (Drager) Haig. She married Bernhardt V.O. Frick on July 1, 1961 at St. John Lutheran Church, Merrill. He survives. Caroline was a 1957 graduate of Merrill Senior High School. Caroline had worked at the former Red Owl grocery store in Merrill; the former Pine River Cheese Factory; at Peterson & Latzig in Merrill; and in the deli at Drew’s Piggly Wiggly in Merrill. Caroline also helped her husband on the family farm. She enjoyed playing cards, her homemaker’s club, working at and also attending the Hodag Festival, gardening, cooking and canning, bird watching, and in her younger years playing her accordion at local dances. Her greatest pleasure came with spending time with her grandchildren. Caroline was an active member of St. John Lutheran Church, Merrill where she was a member of the Altar Guild, Ladies Aid, choir, and assisted with funeral lunches.

Caroline is survived by her husband, Bernhardt V.O. Frick of Merrill; one daughter, Sue (Eugene) Gryskiewicz of Merrill; four sons, John Frick, Lorne Frick (with Stephanie Bosley), and George Frick (with Wendy Vick, all of Merrill, and Glenn (Doreen) Frick of Wausau; her grandchildren, Amanda-Sue (Kade) Kleinschmidt of Weston, Caleb (Krista) Bigelow of Weston, Seth Gryskiewicz of Merrill, Samantha Frick of Merrill, granddaughter Ashley, Christopher Frick of San Diego, Bryant and Paul Frick both of Gleason, Toni Frick of Merrill, Betsy (Scott) Pagel of Schofield, Nikki (Eddie) Schroener of Merrill, Jenny (James) Daily of Wausau, and Tyler Berg of Merrill; and 15 great grandchildren. Besides her parents, Caroline is preceded in death by her brother, Lloyd Haig.

The funeral service will be at 10:00 A.M. Friday, June 18, 2021 at St. John Lutheran Church, Merrill. The Rev. Matthew Bless will officiate. Burial will follow in Luther Memorial Church Cemetery, Town of Schley. Visitation will be from 4:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. Thursday at the Taylor-Stine Funeral Home, Merrill, and again at 9:00 A.M.
