The City of Merrill released a notice on Friday, May 28, via their independent legal counsel, which reads as follows:
The City Personnel & Finance Committee has received a Report from an independent reviewer regarding the City’s response to the teardown of the Scott Mansion by its current owner. The Report, from former Wood County HR Director Ed Reed, contains a review of the timeline and background of communications amongst City officials regarding the proposed tearing down of the Scott Mansion.
The Report concluded that background information and updates were received from the City Administrator and reviewed by City officials; however, no final decision to respond in a particular fashion to the anticipated tearing down of the building was made.
The Personnel & Finance Committee accepted the Report and does not intend to take any further action as a result of the information provided.
