To the Editor:
Whether it’s blown from an open trailer or purposefully thrown from an open window, roadside trash is careless, disgusting, and disrespectful. It takes hundreds of years for plastic bottles, drink containers, and aluminum cans to break down. Styrofoam never does.
We’re all busy, but not so busy we can’t keep a trash bag in our car, or do a litter pick- up. It takes character to pick up someone else’s trash, someone who cares about our environment and what we are leaving behind for our children and their future. Take a walk and bring a bag, some gloves, or a picker-upper. It doesn’t have to be an organized event, but it could. Take pride in our world. Set an example. It will make you feel good.

To the Editor:
My name is Darlene. I have quite a few nicknames. Most are good. I live two miles north of Gleason just off Hwy. 17. Now if you want to know something about “ME,” ask “ME” and I will tell you.
I don’t like gossip. I don’t care too much for that kind of stuff. I am no angel. Take my word for that, and friends and family that really know me, know I am NOT. They know I love them and yes, we sometimes don’t see eye to eye with different things, and that is okay. I love them anyway.
I also love my country, the United States of America. I know a lot of veterans. I love them, too. Well, most of them.
We as a people have to work together. I love to ride my pedal bike, walk, ride in my car, and listen to my CD’s. I just came back from a walk into Gleason and back. On the way, I started picking up cans. Pretty soon I was picking up bottles, garbage, and CRAP. I went to Ma’s Place, a little restaurant in Gleason right on Hwy. 17. Well, like I said, I am no angel. I have thrown things out of my car, too. So let’s work together and try not to litter our beautiful country, our neighborhoods, and to be kind to each other. Okay?
God bless us all.
