03-15-21
At 12:57 a.m., a caller reported some type of incident occurring outside of her residence between her brother and her mother. It was found the mother was driving her son to the daughter’s residence when the son became upset about her not paying for a hotel room for him. The son reportedly spit on his mother and grabbed the steering wheel as she was driving, causing the vehicle to veer. He was arrested for disorderly conduct, three counts of bail jumping, and probation violation.
At 11:11 a.m., a male was arrested for a probation violation at the request of the Wisconsin Department of Corrections.
At 3:04 p.m., officers responded to a threat complaint following an argument between tenants after one parked the other in and refused to move his vehicle. After leaving, one tenant confronted the other in the driveway for calling police. The caller reported the neighbor “chest bumped” him and the neighbor denied this, stating he had only shook his finger at him. The officers’ report will be sent to the district attorney’s office for review and potential charge.
At 7:13 p.m., a caller reported what he believed was a possible gunshot coming from an apartment in the complex he resides at. Contact was made at the apartment and it was found the sound came from an upset male who had thrown his cell phone against a wall. He was advised to keep the noise down so as not to disturb his neighbors.

At 11:46 a.m., a male was arrested for a probation violation at the request of the Wisconsin Department of Corrections.
At 2:33 p.m., a caller reported a purse hanging on a door handle at a vacant residence. The purse was located and nothing inside could identify the owner. The purse was brought to the Police Department for safe keeping.

At 1:32 a.m., an officer stopped a vehicle after finding the registered owner had a suspended driver’s license. The registered owner was indeed the driver and was cited for operating after suspension. During the course of the stop, a K9 alerted to the odor of drugs coming from the vehicle. The driver admitted to having marijuana and a pipe inside the vehicle. A marijuana grinder was also located. He was cited for possession of THC and drug paraphernalia.
At 8:09 a.m., a male was arrested for a probation violation at the request of the Wisconsin Department of Corrections.
At 1:13 p.m., an officer responded to a driving complaint in reference to a speeding vehicle. The vehicle was located and a traffic stop was conducted. The female driver was found to have a revoked driving status, was on probation, and was agitated. A K9 was requested to conduct a sniff of the vehicle. The K9 indicated a positive alert for illegal substances. A search of the vehicle produced drug paraphernalia, as well as methamphetamine, a machete, and a facsimile firearm. The female driver was arrested for possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, and was cited for operating while revoked.

At 9:26 a.m., a caller reported a vehicle driving on the gravel trail at the MARC near the dog park. The driver was apologetic and stated she did so after seeing other doing the same. ***Please note it is in violation of city ordinance 28-1(10) to drive on park turf, trails and other areas outside of parking areas.***
At 3:18 p.m., a caller reported finding someone had broken a window on a garage at a property she manages. Items were disturbed, but it is unknown if anything was stolen.

At 2:28 a.m., an officer observed a vehicle deviate from its travel lane into the oncoming lane. The driver displayed characteristics indicative of intoxication. The driver agreed to field sobriety tests and, as a result of those tests, was arrested for operating while intoxicated.
At 11:40 a.m., a crash was reported in the 1000 block of S. Center Ave. A vehicle had stopped to make a left turn and was rear-ended by the vehicle behind him. The striking vehicle driver stated she had not been paying attention and was pre-occupied with the radio. She was cited for inattentive driving, and a crash report was completed.
At 2:45 p.m., a caller reported a hit-and-run crash at a business parking lot. A witness had observed the striking vehicle strike the caller’s vehicle, and two women got out, looked at the damage, and left. The witness was also able to take a picture of the striking vehicle’s registration plate. This picture led to the officer locating the vehicle and driver. The driver claimed she had not realized she struck another vehicle. She was cited for hit-and-run, and a crash report was completed.
At 5:18 p.m., a juvenile reported his cell phone had been stolen by a group of other juveniles while at a park. Ultimately it was determined the juvenile had lost his phone and was scared to tell his parents, so he made up the story about it being stolen. Contact was made with his mother, and she was advised of the findings. The juvenile was warned for obstructing an officer.

At 12:11 a.m., an officer stopped a vehicle in a parking lot for failure to display registration plates. The driver was found to have two warrants for his arrest. After being ordered to exit the vehicle, the driver fled. The driver led officers on a pursuit for over eight miles before his vehicle became disabled after a Lincoln County Sheriff’s Deputy had successfully deployed a tire deflation device. The man was arrested for fleeing an officer and the warrants. The man stated he had been driving, eating a large quantity of methamphetamine, washing it down with soda. An ambulance transported the man to the hospital.
Additional methamphetamine was located inside the vehicle, as well as prescription medication. The man will additionally be charged with possession of methamphetamine, possession of controlled substance, and two counts of bail jumping.
At 12:01 p.m., a caller reported someone stole a statue of a cat from his porch.
At 1:38 p.m., a caller reported she has not been at her apartment for some time. She returned and learned from neighbors that they had heard strange sounds inside while she was gone. She requested officers clear her apartment to ensure nobody was inside. Officers cleared the apartment and nobody was located and there were no signs anybody had been inside.
At 2:10 p.m., a caller reported she had been walking her dog past a residence and two dogs aggressively approached her and her dog. Someone was able to control the dogs prior to them attacking her or her dog. It was found the dog owner had previously been cited for animal at large. He was cited for 2nd offense animal at large.
At 4:28 p.m., officers assisted Merrill Fire Dept. with a residence that had started on fire. It was found some bags of trash had started on fire causing the siding of the residence to catch fire. A neighbor was able to extinguish the flames prior to officers and Fire Dept. arriving. It was found the occupant had tossed a cigarette butt near the trash bags which is believed to have been the source of the fire starting.
At 6:06 p.m., a caller reported observing his neighbor’s residence door was ajar. He knew the occupant to currently be incarcerated. Contact was made with the owner’s father, who now is power of attorney for the property. He requested officers clear the residence to ensure nobody was inside. It was clear somebody had forcibly entered the residence and garage. It is unknown if anything is missing at this point. The father will be checking on the property and will assess damage and whether anything is missing.
