Jordan; caring brother of Ann (Steve) Stuart, Stephen (Stefi) Slewitzke, James Slewitzke, and Mark Slewitzke and brother-in-law of Jane (Kurt) Haffner and Michael (Jennifer) Jordan. Dedicated uncle to Conner (Jasmin) Slewitzke, Brian Slewitzke, Grace Slewitzke, Heidi Jaeger, and Jaden Jordan; great uncle to Charlie Mae Slewitzke. John is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.

John unexpectedly went home to be with God on Friday, February 19, 2021, at 55 years of age. He grew up in Merrill, Wisconsin, where he developed his love for the outdoors and the Green Bay Packers. He graduated from Merrill High School and attended the University of Wisconsin, Madison before continuing his education at the University of Wisconsin, Stevens Point and Nicolet College in Rhinelander, Wisconsin. Upon completing his studies, he worked as a land surveyor and highway maintenance engineer for Lincoln County in Merrill before meeting Julie at the top of Clingman’s Dome in the Smoky Mountains in 1997. He subsequently moved to Cincinnati where he and Julie married in 2000. John then attended and graduated from the College of Mount Saint Joseph to begin his teaching career in the Northwest and Fairfield school districts for several years before returning to working outdoors in landscaping for Harper Turf Farms.

As his career choices demonstrate, John derived his greatest joy from serving others; he served as Grand Knight and led the Knights of Columbus, Mother of Mercy Council at Corpus Christi Catholic Church and volunteered in many church-related capacities such as Eucharistic Adoration as well as assisted with maintenance of and decorating the church grounds for various events. His volunteer work was encompassing outside of the Church as well in that he participated in Special Olympics and worked with special needs individuals via other organizations, was a member of the National Wild Turkey Federation, and frequented Bass Pro Shop with our dogs.

John was truly a man who, throughout his life, compassionately and consistently thought of others and gave unfailingly and limitlessly of his time, effort, and heart; upon his death, he was able to help over 75 individuals as an organ donor. All who were fortunate enough to interact with John are indelibly blessed by experiencing and being recipients of his infinite giving nature. Thank you, John, for sharing your innumerable gifts and helping to make us better people!
