Werner Johann Mathis was called to his heavenly home on Thursday, February 18, 2021. He was born April 10, 1952 in Buren, Switzerland. Son of Anna and Arnold Mathis Sr. The family came to the Merrill area on Nov. 2, 1966. He grew up on the family farm on Center Road. He did farm work and factory work in Merrill and Neenah.
Werner enjoyed family gatherings and had a very big sweet tooth. He is survived by sons Andrew Lyons and Paul Mathis. Three Brothers: Arnold Mathis Jr. (Darlene), Walter Mathis (Kim), Wendel Mathis (Debra). Four Sisters: Agatha Palmer, Anna Koepke (Neal), Agnes Schelbert and Maria Breunig (David). Sixteen nieces and nephews and 26 great nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank his Fiancé Julie Veeser for the happiness she brought him and the wonderful care she and her family gave him in the last years of his life. Fritz, you fought so hard for your life and now you are free to walk through the gates of heaven pain free. God is there to welcome you because of your faith in Him. We’ll see you again in heaven someday!
Services will be held on Saturday, Feb. 27, 2021 at Emanuel Lutheran Church-Greenville, WI.
