The Merrill Fire Department responded to two separate fires on Friday night, Feb. 12.
“The first one was a snowmobile on fire,” said Fire Chief Josh Klug. “Around 7:30 p.m., Engine-62 and Med-62 responded to Airport Rd. and Hillside Dr. The sled was a total loss.”
The second fire was also on Hillside Dr. in the Town of Merrill. “The owner had two sheds in their backyard that were completely destroyed,” Chief Klug said. “There was a wood furnace in one of the sheds. The owner came back from a snowmobile ride and found them engulfed. Engine-62, Tender-65, and Med-62 responded to the scene. Crews were on scene for just over one hour. Both sheds were a total loss.”
