Merrill City Hall closure extended, open for early voting only

City of Merrill Mayor Derek Woellner released the following statement on Jan. 29:
“On Thursday, Jan. 28, the Wisconsin Department of Health Service’s COVID-19 Disease Activity dashboard continues to list Lincoln County’s activity level as ‘Very High’” and although the trajectory one week ago was showing ‘Shrinking,’ this week had ‘No Significant Change.’ Since our county remains at a ‘Very High’ status, I am declaring the extension of closure for city facilities an additional two weeks, until Monday, Feb. 15, 2021.”
The Mayor indicated entry to City Hall, for the sole purpose of early voting in the spring primary election, will be allowed. City Clerk, William Heideman, said early voting for the Feb. 16 Spring Primary Election will begin at City Hall [1004 E. First Street) will be: 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Monday, Feb. 8, and 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 12.
“Programs that have submitted a safety plan to the administration and been granted exception to the closure can continue operating under their plan,” the Mayor’s statement said.
