Despite the cancelation of many events in 2020 due to COVID-19, the Salvation Army Red Kettle Campaign marches on. Bells in our community are ringing at the Merrill Walmart and Dave’s County Market so don’t forget to drop a little something in the red kettles as you walk by.
At County Market, Larissa Chagoya and her 8-year-old daughter, Alexandria Chagoya, were ringing bells on Thursday. When asked why they’re ringing, Alexandria was quick to respond. “Because it’s really fun,” Alexandria said.
Her mother, Larissa, agreed. “I think this is our fourth or fifth time ringing this year,” she said. Despite the fact that the Chagoyas are first-time Salvation Army bell ringers, Larissa said she is really enjoying it and added: “Now that the kids are a little older, we’re trying to get more involved with it.”
“I have two younger ones [children], so when it’s a little bit warmer, we bring them out, as well,” Larissa added. The Chagoyas plan to make bell ringing for the Red Kettle Campaign an annual part of their holidays.
